New Painting: 'Melted Birthday Cake'

I had a lot of fun with this piece. I wanted to try out some new techniques and play with layering and washes. One of my favorite approaches with each painting I create is to try a new technique or approach. This abstract painting in particular probably has 5-8 layers of matte medium gel built up to give it a dried frosting look. This piece also features a bright cheery palette reminiscent of traditional birthday cake colors. I was inspired by my childhood youth attending birthday party BBQs in the hot summer sun. Piece is 36"W x 24"H x 0.8"D and now on Vango!
