Self Promotion Leave Behind Toy Theater
Self promotions and leave behinds are all the rage for recent graduate students. For those of you don't know leave behinds are small promotional pieces that are left behind with the interviewer at the end of a job interview. The point of a leave behind is to leave a lasting final impression that will not only make you stand out in the crowd, but will also entice the interviewer to revisit your capabilities. They give graduates the chance to do more than show their resume and portfolio (Which can seem too traditional and a little boring).
There are many different kinds of leave behinds. I've seen CD's, Self Action Figures, soap, seeds, stickers, chocolate, and much more.
Here are some examples by other artists:
I decided once I graduated college that I really wanted to create a leave behind that reflected my fun nature, but also showed my affinity for illustration. I decided to create a paper toy theater that contained illustrated scenes from my life (Summing up my resume and bio). I hope you enjoy the sneak peek below!
I really enjoyed making this leave behind. Not all pages are shown (I've got to keep some things a surprise now don't I?). I adore Mary Blair and my illustrations are all inspired by her beautiful work. After completing this project I applied for about 4 different design jobs before I was hired. So, I would say this was all well worth it!
Like my leave behind? Please appreciate my project on Behance!
If you'd like to see more of my latest illustrations check out the self portrait and logo I made for my sister-in-law or the Sadie Sailboat Typography illustration.
